Zelda<\/mark><\/strong>. \u00a0They are not in chronological order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First born was <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#0693e3\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Lon Wesley Scrimshire<\/mark><\/strong>, born 4 November 1918 in Arkansas, died 16 July 1920 from unknown causes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A full, standalone obituary for <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#0693e3\" class=\"has-inline-color\">James Holland Scrimshire<\/mark><\/strong> (my Dad) does not appear to be online. James Holland Scrimshire, son of John Wesley Scrimshire, Junior, and Maudie Leora (Tedford) Scrimshire, was born 10 April 1920 in Montgomery County, Arkansas (Social Security records list both Washita and Mount Ida). He died 25 December 1994 (He died on Christmas Day \u2014 the same calendar date his father, John Wesley, died on 1966), at the age of 74, while residing in Okemah, Oklahoma (ZIP 74859). He was buried in Highland Cemetery, Okemah, Okfuskee County \u2014 the same cemetery as his parents and later my mom Rilda. Probably no official online or funeral home obit because he had no school records, no voter ID, no military record, no Church affialtion, no political affiliation and the likely reason no one wrote one for him like someone did for the others. Interment followed at the Highland Cemetery also in Okemah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zelda Elizabeth Tolleson was born May 5, 1922 in Mt. Ida, Arkansas to John Wesley Scrimshire and Maudie Leora (Tedford) Scrimshire. She passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at her home in Shawnee at the age of 91.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mrs. Tolleson had been a longtime resident of Okemah before moving to Shawnee in 1995. She and Dr. Carl Captain Tolleson were married June 22, 1957 in Okemah; he later preceded her in death August 26, 2001. Mrs. Tolleson worked and assisted her husband for many years at their veterinarian clinic in Okemah. She enjoyed gardening, working with her \ufb02ower beds, cooking, watching sports (especially basketball) and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Tolleson was also a member of the Okemah Church of Christ and the Northridge Church of Christ in Shawnee. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Barbara Joyce Payne and one brother, Holland Scrimshire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She is survived by two step-daughters, Charlotte Coale of Sapulpa and Karlyne Paul of Merced, California; one brother, Leland Scrimshire of Okemah; two sisters, Bonnie Elsner of Edmond and Zora Laws of Okemah; seven grandchildren, Tolly Payne and wife Sheril and their daughters, Lauren Simpson and husband Robert (and their daughter Bentley) and Maggie Payne, Tommy Coale and wife Pam, Timmy Coale, Tracy Coale, Lisa Caid and husband Neal, Tony Paul and wife Karla and Vickie Schuller and husband Jorge; numerous other great grandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren and one son in law, Patrick Payne and wife Debbie of Shawnee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#0693e3\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Zora Leora Scrimshire Laws<\/mark><\/strong> was born March 15, 1924 in Red Mound, Seminole County, Oklahoma to John Wesley Scrimshire and Maudie (Tedford) Scrimshire. She passed away Friday, September 8, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 93.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zora attended Spring  Hill HS Pharaoh Okla as a child and was baptized in 1949 in Clovis, California. Zora was married to Albert Bishop for 15 years and they had four children. Zora worked in many \ufb01elds during her life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She was proud of her time working as a \u201cRosie the Riveter\u201d in both California and at Tinker Airforce Base in Oklahoma City. She was employed at the Wrangler Sewing Factory in Okemah; she worked as a court bailiff in Shawnee, Oklahoma as well as being a certi\ufb01ed nurse practitioner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She worked with UPJOHN Healthcare services in Tulsa, Oklahoma City and in California and with the Gordon Cooper Showcase. Zora worked as a Senior Companion Home Health volunteer in both Catoosa and Owasso, Oklahoma and was a certi\ufb01ed genealogist, which she enjoyed very much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She loved birdwatching and was a true nature enthusiast. She loved to reading, gardening, working crossword puzzles and collecting stamps. She was also a member of the Okemah Church of Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Albert Bishop; three brothers, Lonnie, Holland and Leland Scrimshire and two sisters, Zel Tolleson and Bonnie Elsner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She is survived by her three sons, Jimmie Bishop and wife Marita of Okemah, Wayland Bishop and wife Sharon of Okemah and Randall Kenton Bishop of Porum, Oklahoma; one daughter, Zanda Bennett and husband Larry of Talala, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Funeral services was held Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah. Interment followed at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Funeral services for <strong>Leland Thomas Scrimshire<\/strong> was held Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Okemah Church of Christ. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leland Thomas Scrimshire was born May 17, 1927 in Seminole County, Oklahoma to John Wesley Scrimshire and Maudie Leora (Tedford) Scrimshire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leland had been a resident of the Okemah area most all of his life. He and Letha Belle Guinn were married June 21, 1947 in Okemah; she later preceded him in death June 16, 2009. Leland was a retired electrician and elder of the Okemah Church of Christ. He was an avid supporter of all Okemah School Athletics and Organizations and, in 1997, was elected to the Okemah Hall of Fame. Leland was a true asset to the Okemah community; having served as Fire Chief, City Manager and the Civil Defense Director. He also enjoyed hunting, \ufb01shing and noodling and was instrumental in the development of the Okemah Golf Course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Zelda Tolleson and Bonnie Elsnor; two brothers, Holland and Lonnie Scrimshire and two great-grandchildren. Survivors include his two daughters, Rita George and husband Robert of Bearden and Beverly Lawson of Moore, Oklahoma; one sister, Zora Laws of Okemah; three grandchildren, Monica Williams and husband Mike of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Matthew George and wife Audra of Oklahoma City and Rebecca Williams and husband James of Okemah and 8 great-grandchildren, Autumn, Samantha and Lawson Braden, Maddox and Brooklyn George and Georgiana, Stryker and Ketch Williams. He is also survived by his life-long best friend, John Ford of Okemah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Bonnie Scrimshire Elsner<\/strong>, 81, died Monday. Services pending (Crawford, Edmond).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bonnie Evelyn Elsner was born July 30, 1933 in Okemah, OK to John and Maude Scrimshire. She went to her heavenly home Monday, February 16, 2015. Bonnie was the youngest of \ufb01ve children and played basketball and softball at Spring Hill HS Pharaoh Okla. It was in high school that she met the love of her life, Ken. They married in 1955 and moved to Shawnee where Ken was attending OBU (Oklahoma Baptist University). They had three children and made a home in Cromwell, Oklahoma where Ken was a coach and school administrator. She enjoyed those years being a homemaker and mother. Bonnie also loved to read and when the family moved to Edmond in 1969 Bonnie attended UCO (University of Central Oklahoma) and received her bachelors degree in English and a masters degree in Library Science. She taught English at Edmond Middle School and was the librarian\/media specialist at Edmond High School. She enjoyed planning and designing the high school library when North High School opened. Bonnie thoroughly enjoyed her years in public schools and treasured the lifelong friendships she made with her colleagues there. Bonnie liked nature and had an interest in birds. She loved to provide shelter, feed and watch the birds in her backyard. Bonnie and Ken enjoyed traveling to South Korea, Scotland, Paris, London, Canada, and Newfoundland. After she retired she enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and granddaughters. Ken and Bonnie were active with the Happy Timers church group at First Baptist. She will be remembered for her loving spirit and sweet smile she had for everyone she met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pallbearers will be Wayland Bishop, Kenny Bishop, Jimmy Bishop, Larry Bennett, Robert Simpson and Russell Elsner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents John and Maude Scrimshire; brother, Holland Scrimshire; sister, Zelda Tolleson; and son, Randy Elsner. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Elsner; son, Russ Elsner; daughter, Robin Thomas; granddaughters, Lindsey Thomas and Dana Thomas, all of Edmond; sister, Zora Laws; and brother, Leland Scrimshire of Okemah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A funeral service celebrating her life was held Friday, February 20th at 10:00am at First Baptist Church of Edmond. A graveside service will be at 3:00pm on the 20th of February at Highland Cemetery in Okemah, OK.
